I've made a lot of work supporting our news stories and social media efforts as well. Images and visual ideas that are made to illustrate a story get recycled into posts for instagram, twitter and facebook. We use pull quotes from interviews and other teasers to get people to the main articles.
We generate a lot of printed pieces to support other departments in the law school. Following the UVA Brand guidelines can actually be liberating and help bring focus to the pieces we make.
Supporting events has also been a huge part of my role at UVA Law. I've designed hundreds of event posters, with the graphics also used on our website and social media accounts.
Here's a more in-depth look at the design elements I made for a recent large two-day conference. I made a quick bespoke website on Squarespace (with backend links to a registration database), along with signage for wayfinding, room identification and scheduling.
I also made a 48-page printed program with scheduled, bios and maps, with pages color-coded by day and available online via QR codes. Not pictured and a massive banner for in front of the law school, bus stop stand-up signs and a ballroom full of academic research posters that I managed the on-site printing of with three different vendors. It was a lot but it all turned out well.
